“Christmas is all about…”

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m really sick of hearing that line.  Especially since, according to different people, Christmas is “all about” different things.  In the last week I have heard that Christmas is “all about”

• Family
• Giving
• Community
• Shopping
• Being nice to people
• Jesus (only heard that once)

If Christmas is “all about” any of these things, then it can’t be about any of the others.

To me, Christmas is primarily about Jesus, but there are other things that are important at this time of year.  There’s family, remembering the poor and disenfranchised, generosity, and so on.

It’s just those words “all about” that get up my nose.
